Mental Health Act 2007:
The new Mental Health Act 2007 has been passed, replacing the Act of 1983. The Act specifies where people are treated and what kind of treatment will be given; the rights of the patient, relatives and friends, which professionals can make decisions; and what counts as a "mental disorder". RCP Changing Minds Campaign:
The Changing Mind Campaign is trying, in a variety of ways, to encourage everyone to stop and think about their own attitudes and behaviour in relation to mental disorders. If we do stop and think, we will almost certainly understand more, and as a result become more tolerant of people with mental health problems.

Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health:

Sane and Saneline:
SANE was established in 1986 following the overwhelming public response to a series of articles of articles featured in 'The Times' newspaper entitled The Forgotten Illness' written by Marjorie Wallace, now SANE's Chief Executive. The articles uncovered the neglect of people suffering from schizophrenia and the poverty of services and treatments. Psychminded:
This is an independent site that is not aimed specificallyfor or maintained by service users, but is highly recommended. The person who runs it is called Adam James, who is a free-lance journalist. That means he's free to ask difficult questions and raise challenging topics. There are up-to-date bulletins on mental health issues, and links to a wide range of relevant sources. There are also good links to up-to-date research information.
